Citizens challenged to help fight the scourge of child early marriage

Chairperson for the Zambian women parliamentarians’ caucus, Princess Kasune has challenged citizens and stakeholders across the country to help fight the scourge of child, early and forced marriage as well as gender based violence.

Ms. Kansune has bemoaned the high levels of gender based violence, teenage pregnancies and early marriages which she laments have hindered the children from realizing their full potential.  

Ms Kansune is elated that president Hakainde Hichilema has noted the severity of the situation around these issues and shown political will hence the need for stakeholders to rally behind the president in addressing the scourge.

She states that traditional, leaders, church leaders, civic leaders and parliamentarians among others all need to rise up in arms and curb the curb of early marriages, teenage pregnancies and GBV in the country.
