ABSA Zambia PLC effects a K1,950 salary increment for unionized workers

ABSA Zambia PLC has awarded its unionized workers a 1,950 kwacha salary increment across the board effective 1st April 2022.

Speaking during the signing of the Collective Agreement with the Zambia Union of Financial Institutions and Allied Workers (ZUFIAW) and the Bankers Union of Zambia, ABSA Zambia Managing Director, Mizinga Melu says the increment is well deserved as the workers have worked hard for it and produced good results.

She says the bank is trying to improve performance which can best be done by paying the workers well, so that the talk is not about salaries, but performance and hard work.

Ms Melu has assured that her office will always be open for all communications including on agreements which she says are key to strengthening institutions, workers and unions.

Speaking earlier, ZUFIAW General Secretary, Kasapo Kabende says it is elating that a K1,950 increment has been reached at an optune time  despite the current economic environment being  difficult .

Meanwhile, Bankers Union of Zambia President, Melvis Saviye expressed happiness with the increase.

He however, stressed the need for the bargaining process to be within time.
