Save the Environment and People’s Agency (SEPA) says governments move to launch a charcoal ban task force is timely, as it will reduce forest degradation, illegal produce and trading of charcoal.

SEPA chief executive officer Mailes Muke says it is gratifying to see the partnership between government and USAID.

She has however urged the two parties to go beyond media headlines but reach out to participants in the charcoal production and where possible, engage, educate, train and dialogue with them.

She is confident that doing so will help government achieve sustainable development goals especially on climate change.
