Zambia to host AGN

Minister of Green Economy and Environment Collins Nzovu has announced that Zambia is on course to ensuring the successful hosting of the African Group of Negotiators (AGN) on climate change meeting in Livingstone this month.

The a-g-n is a group of government representatives of the 54 African countries who spearhead the negotiations on climate change to ensure that the continent speaks with one voice during the negotiations and Zambia was elected chair during cop26 in Glasgow.

And Mr. Nzovu says the meeting which will be held from 14thto 17th march 2022, will bring together representatives from all the 54 countries of the continent.

In a statement to q news, Mr. Nzovu says it is important that Zambia excellently carries out the chairmanship mandate for the benefit of the continent and contributes to the positive outcome at the cop27 in Egypt, which has been dubbed: the African cop.

He says the Livingstone meeting is the first step towards preparations for cop27 whilst reviewing the outcome of cop-26.

Mr. Nzovu has since urged Zambians, especially residents of Livingstone, to extend their usual warm reception to guests from across the continent.
