Media Institute of Southern Africa-MISA Zambia is calling on the broadcasting sector in the country to provide platforms for children to express themselves to mark the commemoration of the International Children’s Day of Broadcasting (ICDB).

This year, the day is being celebrated under the theme ‘end violence against children through safe media’.

MISA Zambia Chairperson, Barnabas Simutenda notes that children are the leaders of tomorrow and it is therefore imperative that their views and concerns are elevated so that responsible authorities can take appropriate actions.

Father Simutenda  says as the education still remains one of the critical roles of the media, radio and television plays a vital role in shaping the lives of citizens, including children.

And Media Network on Child Rights and Development (MNCRD) Executive Director Henry Kabwe is urging media houses, not to use decorative aspects of participation but help children develop their own scripts, news and other programmes.

Mr. Kabwe has noted the need for the country to create safe space for more children to express themselves to lay a proper democratic foundation.
