Southern African cross border traders association (SACBTA) secretary general Jacob Makambwe says infrastructure development is significant to the facilitation of a conducive business environment in the country.

Mr. Makambwe says government must therefore focus on improving infrastructure such as viable economic roads and border post infrastructure that will ensure zambia is opened up to regional markets.

He points out that poor road and border infrastructure at the Zambia/Angola border is making Zambia lose out revenue.

Speaking to q-news in an interview, Mr Makambwe says as Zambia looks forward to the implementation of the African continental free trade area, government must ensure these openings provide opportunities for cross border traders and everyone in the business sector to take advantage of the export potential that is within the region.
