The Road Transport and Safety Agency (RTSA) has acknowledged that the dubious acquisition of driver’s licenses without due examination could be among the leading cause of accidents on the roads.

RTSA Head of Public Relations Fred Mubanga says going forward, the agency is considering engaging the Anti Corruption Commission so that its officers can be stationed at examination centres as a measure to curb corruption.

And Mr Mubanga says investigations into the alleged dubious issuance of driver’s licenses by some RTSA officials have reached an advanced stage.

The country has recently seen an increase in road traffic accidents mostly involving public service vehicles.
