PRISONS Care and Counseling Association (PRISCCA) has appealed to ward development committees to consider correctional facilities as beneficiaries of the K25.7 million Constituency Development Fund (CDF).
PRISCCA Executive Director Godfrey Malembeka tells Q-news in a telephone interview that many correctional facilities in the country are currently in a bad state.
Dr. Malembeka also notes that some inmates in Correctional facilities are pursuing skills training programs with insufficient learning materials, hence the need for the Ward Development Committees to look into such challenges using CDF.
He states that many incarcerated people participated in the 2021 general election with the expectation that their conditions will be improved.
