Lungu pleads not guilty

Konkola Copper Mines (KCM) Provisional Liquidator Milingo Lungu has finally taken plea and pleaded not guilty to charges of theft and money laundering involving over K4.4 million.

When the matter came up for plea this morning before Lusaka Magistrate Felix Kaoma, Lungu 43,a lawyer by profession denied committing the two offences.

In count one, it is alleged that Lungu between May 22,2019 and September 28,2021 beinf a provisional liquidator stole K4.4 million, the property of Konkola Copper Mines PLC.

In the second count, it is alleged that Lungu during the same period transferred K4.4 million knowing or having reasons to believe the same to be proceeds of crime.

Magistrate Kaoma has set November 29,2021 as the date for commencement of trial in the matter.

The accused who was arrested by the Drug Enforcement Commission on September 29, 2021 is being represented by lawyers Sakwiba Sikota,Moses Chitambala,Makebi Zulu and Jonas Zimba.
