President Hakainde Hichilema has awarded and honored 11 citizens for their positive contribution to the development of the country.
The 11 were awarded during the investiture ceremony at stat house in commemoration of Zambia’s 57th independence anniversary held under the theme “celebrating a new dawn anchored on good governance , national unity and development”
the awards are in line with president Hichilema powers contained in article 92(2) of the constitution of Zambia to award and honored persons in different categories.
Those awarded included Kamina Nyirenda who was awarded a medal for gallantry, Hendrix Libwe Chikabo was honored posthumously, Anderson Kambela Mazoka was also awarded posthumously with order of the eagle of Zambia while Raymond Radunsiku and Buxton Maambo were also awarded posthumously with the order of the grand companion and order of the freedom first division .
meanwhile Presdent Hichilema has awarded the order of distinguished services first division to be grand commander of the order of distinguished service to Oscar Chapula, Clement Zulu and Jacob Mwanza.
the head of state has also awarded Elijah Ngwale and proud Sichaba with the presidents instigma of honor while mercy Chandalala Kandolo has been awarded with the presidents insignia of mercy.
The awards have been given on basis of the recipients speaking on behalf of the communities on radio and media platforms over various challenges faced, commitment to advocate for the people with disabilities and sourcing for medical services to the hospitals in northern province among other reasons.
