PF scoops Kaumbwe and Lusangazi by elections

The opposition Patriotic front has scooped the Kaumbwe parliamentary seat and the Lusangazi council chairperson seat in eastern province following yesterday’s by-elections.

and the ruling UPND has also won the Lufubu ward local government by-election in Mwansabombwe district of Luapula province, the Kalilele ward seat in Mushindamo district and the Mulamfu ward seat in Zimba district in southern province . 

in the Kaumbwe parliamentary by-election, PF candidate Aaron Mwanza polled 6,633 votes followed by UPND candidate Ernest Sakala who polled 3,117 votes with socialist party candidate Masauso Daka trailing third with 1,835, while democratic party’s Wilbase Tembo polled 517, independent candidate listed Tembo got 446 votes with independent candidate Yunike Mwale and PNUP canidate Charles Nyanoka polling 191 and 120 votes respectively.

in the Lufubu ward local government by-election in mwansabombwe district of Luapula province, UPND candidate Patson Mwape polled 694 votes against socialist party’s Paul Musonda who polled 459 votes.

returning officer Donatello Singa declared Mwape duly elected member of the Mwansabombwe council for Lufubu ward at exactly 21:40 hours, last night.

opposition patriotic front (pf)’s Daniel Mwewa was third after he polled 276 votes with democratic party candidate Thelma Kabo and leadership movement party candidate Collins Chipili managing 48 and 8 votes, respectively.

and UPND Luapula province chairman Roy Mwansa said the victory is a clear signal that the party is strong on the ground and that the people of Mwansabombwe have embraced change.
