Kitwe woman nabbed for buying from street vendor

A Thirty Nine-Year-Old Woman Of Kitwe Has Been Apprehended And Fined 200 Kwacha For Buying Five Bananas Worth 10 Kwacha From A Street Vendor.

Confirming The Development, KCC Public Relations Manager Chola Mwamba Says Iness Munyeme, Of House Number 2268 Luangwa West In Kitwe, Was Apprehended Together With Four Others For Buying Merchandise From The Street.

Ms. Mwamba However Discloses That The Four Were Only Cautioned While Ms Munyeme Was Fined  K200 After Admission Of Guilt.

Ms Mwamba Says The Local Authority Is Disappointed That Some Residents Have Continued Buying Their Merchandise From Street Vendors, A Situation That Is Encouraging Traders To Abandon Their Market Stands In Preference For The Street Thereby Contributing To The Increase In Street Vending, Street Congestion And Street Littering.

She Has Warned That The Council Police Will Continue Patrolling The CBD And Anyone Found Buying Items From Street Vendors Will Be Arrested.
