FISP inputs distribution to commence on Monday

Government has announced that the distribution of farming inputs to one million farmers under the Farmer Input Support Program (FISP) will commence on Monday,18th October,2021.

Addressing a media briefing in Lusaka today, Agriculture Minister Mutolo Phiri says the program will this farming season be implemented through two modalities which are the direct Input supply modality and the E-voucher modality.

Mr Phiri says government has maintained the K400 farmer contribution, adding that so far, 98% of the targeted beneficiaries have already deposited their contributions.

And the Agriculture Minister says the FISP audit which will influence some reforms to the program has reached an advanced stage at 95%.

Meanwhile Mr Phiri says members of the grain traders association of Zambia have been granted permits to export 1,140 metric tonnes of maize while the millers association of Zambia has been issued with permits to export 42,858 metric tonnes of mealie meal which is equivalent to 50,421 metric tonnes of maize
