The Ministry of Health says there has been an increase in diarrhea cases in Lusaka district recently.

Ministry Spokesperson Dr Abel Kabalo, however, states that so far, the ministry has not recorded any confirmed cases of either Cholera, Typhoid, or Dysentery from all stool sampled collected and tested.

Dr Kabalo says the ministry has heightened surveillance to establish the cause of some diarrhea cases recently recorded in Lusaka.

He adds that a circular has to this effect been issued to all health facilities in the district to submit stool samples to the University Teaching Hospital Microbiology Laboratory for testing.

Dr Kabalo is therefore, urging the public to be highly alert and report any diarrhea cases to the nearest health facility so that samples are taken for testing.

He has further urged the public to practice high levels of hygiene as the rainy season approaches to avoid any possible contraction of water borne diseases.
