Mucheleka accuses Police of failing to protect electorates

The opposition UPND has described as unfortunate the continued alleged violent attacks on its members  by the ruling PF in Lundazi District.

UPND Deputy Secretary General Patrick Mucheleka has also accused the Zambia Police of failing to protect its members in areas where by-elections are taking place in the District.

Mr. Mucheleka has referred to the violence that has characterized campaigns in Mkomba Ward, as one example that has exposed failure on the part of the police to maintain law and order in the area.

He suspects that the Zambia Police is failing to curb the violence being witnessed in the District because it is being perpetrated by the ruling party.

Mr. Mucheleka says the danger with what is obtaining in Lundazi District is that it has potential to extend to the 2021 elections.

He has since appealed to President Edgar Lungu to end the politically motivated violence, saying failure to do so, he will continue to carry the blame on his shoulders.
