Kabimba blames PF for Zambia’s latest CPI ranking

The opposition Rainbow Party says Zambia’s fall in ranking on the latest global corruption index is a sign the Patriotic Front government has failed to fight corruption.

Party leader Wynter Kabimba says his party is in fact of the view that there is no political-will to fight corruption in the Country.

Mr. Kabimba notes that this is despite President Edgar Lungu ordering investigations into the corruption cases revealed by office of the Auditor General’s office.

He has told QTV News by telephone that the Rainbow Party has not seen any action being taken by investigative wings on the pronouncements being made by President Lungu.

Mr. Kabimba states that this entails that there is a culture of impunity that has developed in Zambia where individuals can now be corrupt but still get away with it.

He thinks that this also explains why Zambia is now ranked number 105 out of the 180 countries gauged on the 2018 Transparency International Corruption Perceptions Index (CPI).

On the 2018 Transparency International CPI released on Tuesday, Zambia dropped by 9 places in ranking after scoring 35 out 100 points from the 37 out 100 points it scored in 2017.
