UPPZ urges govt to start preps for printing ballot papers locally

UPPZ Spokesperson Francis Kope

United Prosperous and Peaceful Zambia (UPPZ) national Spokesperson Francis Kope has proposed that government should first try to print ballot papers for by-elections locally to see if Zambia is capable to print ballot papers locally.

Mr. Kope has challenged government in consultation with concerned stakeholders to consider printing ballot papers for by-elections locally.

He has wondered why patriotic front is in a habit to make pronouncements with zeal which they fail to implement.

He has recalled that government through the Ministry of Works and Supply including the Vice President Inonge Wina in parliament indicated that government is likely to print the ballot papers for 2021 locally.

United Prosperous and Peaceful Zambia (UPPZ) national spokesperson observes that by-elections come and go with ballot papers printed outside the country which is expensive at a time the country’s economy is hurting.

And Kope has suggested that the Electoral Commission of Zambia (ECZ) and the ministry of works and supply must start to consult concerned stakeholders on who must print ballot papers locally.

He has stressed that printing ballot papers locally will enhance productivity and create employment for the local people.
