PF expels Harry Kalaba for gross misconduct

Ruling Patriotic Front party has expelled Bahati Member of Parliament Harry Kalaba from the ruling party for alleged gross misconduct.

Last year the central committee received a recommendation from the Luapula Provincial Committee during the central committee meeting held on 24th march 2018 to expel the Bahati Member of Parliament, Harry Kalaba from the party citing various reasons.

Announcing the development at a media briefing Patriotic Front Secretary General Davies Mwila the party decided to expel Mr. Kalaba for bringing the name of the r ruling party into disrepute.

Mr. Mwila revealed that on 15th October 2018, he wrote a letter to Mr. Kalaba, asking him to exculpate himself on four charges leveled against him arising from newspaper statements attributed to him which bordered on utter disregard and disrespect for the party, its leadership and party constitution but failed to exculpate himself to address to the allegations that were leveled against him.

He says on 14th of January 2019, he once again wrote a letter to Mr. Kalaba inviting him for a disciplinary hearing at the party secretariat on the 22nd of January 2019, however he did not present himself for the hearing before the disciplinary committee.

Mr. Mwila explains that according to the regulation (29c) of the patriotic front constitution, Mr. Kalaba allegedly brought the name of the party into ridicule and has continued to do so with impunity.

He says the party will write to Speaker of the National Assembly Patrick Matibini notifying him to declare Bahati Parliamentary seat vacant.

Meanwhile Mr. Mwila revealed that all political parties and Zambia Centre for Interparty Dialogue have signed a memorandum of understanding that will be presented to the three church mother bodies on the way forward of the national dialogue.
