Church and ZCID urged to reconcile

A consortium of political parties and civil society organizations have advised the three Church Mother Bodies And the Zambia Centre for Interparty Dialogue (ZCID) to make fresh arrangements on how they can work together in championing the national dialogue and reconciliation process.

Speaking at a joint media briefing, Christian Democratic Party President Dan Pule has accused the three church mother bodies who are leading the dialogue process of not be inclusive.

Apostle Pule has charged that apart from the ruling party, the three church mother bodies have sidelined a lot of political parties  especially those that are purported to the Patriotic Front (PF) party.

Meanwhile Economic and Equity Party President Chilufya Tayali has accused the three church mother bodies of having created a lot of divisions in the country owing to the manner they are carrying proceedings of the national dialogue process.

Mr. Tayali has also castigate the Catholic Church for failing to tell United Party for National Development (UPND) President Hakainde Hichilema to his face that he lost the 2016 elections when in fact the findings of church inquiry in the 2016 elections clearly indicate that incumbent President Edgar Lungu won.

Mr. Tayali says for as long as the church fails to convince Mr. Hichilema that he lost the election, the national dialogue process is a failure adding that the process started as a result of the conflict that followed the 2016 elections.

Meanwhile New Congress Party (NCP) Leader Peter Chanda and his counterpart Zambia republican party (ZRP) president Wright Musoma have accused evangelical fellowship of Zambia (EFZ) Board Chairperson Bishop Paul Mususu of being a UPND supporter.

They have alleged that Bishop Mususu who is one of the leaders spearheading the national dialogue process is helping in mobilizing finances to help Mr. Hichilema to ascend to presidency.
