YALI submits proposal to replace national dialogue process to EL

The Young African Leaders Initiative (YALI) has submitted a petition to President Edgar Lungu through the Minister of Justice to consider the proposal for a bipartisan leadership to replace what it says is the failed national dialogue process.

The Petition calls on the government to expeditiously move to publish and table the key governance reforms in Parliament.

YALI President Andrew Nthewewe says the petition is motivated by the fact that since mid-2017, the process to clean up the laws and move the reform agenda forward has stalled and that no tangible progress has been achieved.

Mr. Nthewewe states that the country cannot however be on a stand still.

He says the minister of justice needs to expeditiously provide political direction with respect amending the constitution.
