CAA yet to receive AOC application for National Airline

The Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) has not yet formally received an application to certify the Zambian Airways in which the Ethiopian Airlines owns 45 percent shares.

CAA Director General Gabriel Lesa says the Authority is still waiting for the Airline to apply for an Air Operator Certificate (AOC).

Mr. Lesa says the newly installed board of the Zambian Airways will have to appoint a Chief Executive Officer and management with whom the CAA will interface in issuing the AOC.

He has told QTV News that the entire process of issuing an AOC takes a minimum of 3 months to a maximum of one year.

Mr. Lesa states that given that the Zambian government has partnered with the Ethiopian Airlines in setting up the National Airline, the CAA envisages that this process will be seamless.

He says the CAA considers Ethiopian Airlines as a renowned experienced airline.
