National Dialogue has not been hijacked, ZCCB assures nation

The three church mother bodies leading the National Dialogue have assured the nation that the dialogue process has not been hijacked.

Zambia Conference of Catholic Bishops (ZCCB) Secretary General Cleophas Lungu says  the church, in particular, cannot and has not hijacked the dialogue process.

Father Lungu says the ZCCB, the Council of Churches in Zambia (CCZ) and the Evangelical Fellowship of Zambia (EFZ) have not equally crafted an agenda of their own for the National Dialogue.

In an interview with Q-News Father Lungu has also refuted allegations that the three church mother bodies have excluded some stakeholders who have shown interest in the dialogue process.

Father Lungu states that those who are making these allegations could be doing so out of ignorance about the contribution that the church has made in the past in building the nation.

He says history confirms it that as far back as the first Republic, the church has been instrumental in mediating national dialogue processes.

The ZCCB Secretary General states that this is why the three church mother bodies leading the current National Dialogue are wondering why they are being accused of hijacking the process.

He says what the ZCCB, the CCZ and the EFZ, however want, is an all inclusive dialogue process that does not leave anyone behind.
