President Lungu will attend National Dialogue launch

President Edgar Lungu has confirmed attendance of the launch of the National Dialogue which is scheduled to take place on the 18th of January this year.

Zambia Conference of Catholic Bishops (ZCCB) Secretary General Cleophas Lungu has confirmed to QTV News via telephone that this is after consulting State House.

Father Lungu states that the date for the launch of the National Dialogue was thus only announced after President Lungu agreed that he will be available.

He has also dismissed as confusion meant to divide the nation accusations that the three church mother bodies leading the National Dialogue have improvised their own agenda items.

The ZCCB Secretary General has clarified that there is in fact no agenda for the National Dialogue that has been set at present.

He says the ZCCB, Evangelical Fellowship of Zambia (EFZ), Council of Churches in Zambia (CCZ) are still receiving submissions from various stakeholders of what the agenda for the dialogue process will be.

Father Lungu says this means that there will be a time when the agenda of the National Dialogue will be announced to the nation after the official launch of the dialogue process on the 18th of January.

He says this also entails that the official launch of National Dialogue will not be used for discussing the agenda items of the process.
