Church wants own national dialogue, excludes ZCID

The Church reportedly wants to hold its own national dialogue meeting for political leaders with the exclusion of the Zambia Center for Interparty Dialogue (ZCID).

The Church is said to have since met with opposition UPND leader Hakainde Hichilema in this regard.

silavweInformation reaching QTV News suggests that the Church’s action is also in total disregard of the ZCID’s request that it chairs the dialogue.

The ZCID has however given indication that it will proceed with its own road map of the dialogue based on constitutional and institutional reforms.

And when contacted for a comment, ZCID spokesperson, Jackson Silavwe said the Center has received the decision by the Church with a sense of shock.

Mr. Silavwe says this is not the response the ZCID expected from the Church.

He states that in view of this new development, the alternative for the ZCID will be to find an eminent figure to chair the dialogue meeting.

Mr. Silavwe says the ZCID is nevertheless still consulting political parties and will issue a comprehensive statement by Monday next week.
