Zambia needs strong opposition- Lusambo

Lusaka Provincial Minister Bowman Lusambo says no opposition political party is providing checks and balances to government.

Mr. Lusambo says the largest opposition united party for national development (upnd) are being frivolous when it comes to providing checks and balances to the ruling party.

He has told journalist in Lusaka that a weak opposition is not a good sign for democracy thus the urgent need for the upnd to put its house in order.

Mr. Lusaka adds that the upnd should change its leadership if it is to win any election.

He has emphasized that there is no single party which can counter the moves of the ruling party as a cohesive unit with an articulated narrative.

And Mr. Lusambo says it is important to understand that strong opposition doesn’t mean only numbers, a strong opposition party should act like a watchdog.
