The Patriots for Economic Progress (PeP) has challenged President Edgar Lungu to step down and call for early elections, for what he has described as failure to run the country’s economy.

Party leader Sean Tembo tells Q News that such a gesture would give an opportunity to those who are bubbling with ideas of how to turnaround the economic fortunes of the country.

Mr. Tembo adds that that performing a leadership role such as that of Republican President should never be seen as an entitlement by any individual citizen, but rather as a privilege, further stating that if one individual citizen fails to properly discharge their duties they, are morally obliged to step aside and allow other visionary citizens to offer their services

Mr. Tembo has since stated that if president Lungu fails to heed to the challenge, then he must consider fully engaging opposition leaders in trying to find tangible solutions to the current economic malaise in the nation.
