Govt urged to invest in safety of vulnerable road users

Zambia Road Safety Trust (ZRST) Chairman, Daniel Mwamba has urged government to invest part of the money collected at toll gates into the safety of vulnerable road users who are mostly pedestrians and cyclists.

Mr. Mwamba notes that pedestrians and cyclists are the most affected by road traffic accidents, hence the need for government to intensify measures that will see to it that this group of road users pedestrians is secured on road.

He says it is possible for government to invest in the safety of road users owing to the huge amount of money which is collected in form of toll fees.

Mr. Mwamba has told Q-news in an interview that the road safety measures have mostly been focused on motorists at the expense of other road users.
