Exceeded budget is due to failure to follow guidelines -Dodia

Economist Yusuf Dodia has attributed government’s exceeding of its budget for the first half of 2018 by K5 billion to the failure to follow budget expenditure guidelines.

Mr. Dodia says Zambians should therefore brace themselves for the economic implications arising from exceeded government expenditure.

He says in view of this, it is going to be difficult for the government to fund the second half of the year.

Finance Minister Margaret Mwanakatwe announced last week that government had exceeded its budget for the first half of 2018 by K5 billion owing to huge interest payments and capital expenditure.
