Zambia Religious Council (ZRC) Executive Director Howard Banda has advised political parties to educate their cadres against engaging in violence.

Mr. Banda says Zambia needs peace and it should not be deliberately spoiled for the sake of an election.

He has told Q-news that it is an assault to the Christian declaration when political parties engage in political violence.

Mr. Banda has however called on Zambians to exercise tolerance towards each other irrespective of their political affiliations saying there is the need for politicians to lead the crusade for peaceful election.

He has emphasized the need for politicians to demonstrate a high level of tolerance to ensure that there is always peace in the country.

Mr. Banda has further urged political leaders to restrain their supporters from causing instability and cautioned them against interfering with the work of the Electoral Commission of Zambia (ECZ).

He feels that democracy is the largest market for competitive ideas and not fights.
