STOP Zambia Executive Director, Derrick Banda
Support to Older People (STOP) Zambia says political violence has a disproportionate impact on the elderly and the disabled in different ways.
STOP Zambia Executive Director Derrick Banda tells QTV News that through a number of factors, conflict situations also contribute to extreme mental, emotional, and physical harm to individuals advanced in aged and those with disabilities, their families and the community at large.
Mr. Banda says Civil Society Organizations and Government can work together to make the voice of the elderly and the disabled to be heard on political violence.
Meanwhile, Mr Banda has called on the government to ensure that retirees get their retirement benefits on time.
He states that it because of the delay in paying retirees that they end up dying of stress.
