ICTs will accelerate development in COMESA -Wina

Vice President Inonge Wina says adoption of ICTs by COMESA member states will help to accelerate economic development.

Mrs. Wina says COMESA needs to embrace digital technologies in the implementation of regional integration programmes.

The Vice President said this in a speech read on her behalf by Minister in the office of the Vice president Sylvia Chalikosa during the COMESA 38th Council of Ministers meeting in Lusaka.

And Ms. Wina says she is encouraged by the momentum exhibited by COMESA member states in adopting the use of ICTs regional level.

She notes that technology is essential for driving growth at national and regional level.

Ms. Wina has pointed out that ICTs are an important enabler in the advancing of digital revolution.

She has observed that the COMESA block has gained tremendous economic, social, and cultural benefits from innovations within the ICT sector.

ZANIS reports that Ms. Wina is optimistic that the full utilization of ICTs will help in delivering a robust and broad based twenty first century economy.
