The Patriots for Economic Progress (PeP) has welcomed government’s intentions to introduce cyber laws.

PeP president Sean Tembo says such laws will bring about sanity in the cyber space.

Mr. Tembo says there is no question that the cyber space, just like the physical space, needs to be policed so as to ensure that there is a mechanism to hold everyone accountable for their actions on the internet.

He has told Q-news that it is unreasonable to oppose what people have not seen, stating that if the proposed cyber laws that are about to be introduced to Parliament contain provisions that are inimical to, and stifle the rights, freedoms and liberties of expression, as enshrined in articles 20 and 21 of the Republican Constitution, then he will challenge those specific provisions by approaching the courts of law to seek appropriate reliefs.

He has since advised Zambians not only to promote the rights of the citizens to freely express themselves, but also take responsibility for what they say or write about others.
