Some UNZA students barred from exams over fees

The University of Zambia Lecturers and Researchers’ Union (UNZALARU) says some students may not write their final examinations that have started today as they have failed to pay 37.5 percent of the fees to the University of Zambia (UNZA).

UNZALARU President Dr. Evans Lampi has told Journalists in Lusaka that a quiet of the UNZA students may not be allowed to write their final exams because their sponsors or parents have not paid over 37.5 percent of the fees.

Dr. Lampi says some students just attend classes without being registered and paying the required fees saying these are the ones who may be affected during the exams that started this today.

He says the union has discovered that quiet a number of them will not write because they confided in the lecturers about this development.

Dr. Lampi says a lot of them do not even have the exam receipts because of the failure by their parents or sponsors to pay the fees.
