ZPPA registers 19,347 using E-GP system

A total of 19,347 suppliers were registered on the Electronic-Government Procurement (E-GP) system as of June 29, 2018.

Zambia Public Procurement Authority (ZPPA) public relations and communications Principal Officer John Chipandwe says the Authority has processed a total of 257 tenders since the launch of the E-GP.

Mr. Chipandwe has told QTV News in a statement that the value of these tenders is K54.1million.

He says this amount is spread across the 14 pilot institutions currently using the system some of which include the Zambia Revenue Authority (ZRA) and the Bank of Zambia (BoZ).

Mr. Chipandwe has disclosed that during the piloting phase, the Authority identified lack of internet access in some areas do not have access to internet, as one common challenge.

He notes that the other challenge was lack of knowledge or skills on how to use the system.

Mr. Chipandwe says in response the authority has continued carrying out sensitisations and trainings to suppliers and public officers on how to use the E-GP system.

He states that the ZPPA is also working with relevant government institutions to ensure that the problem of lack of internet in some areas is addressed.
