L400 not affected by shrunk fiscal space, govt clarifies

Government has clarified that the L400 road construction project has not been affected by the shrunk 2018 fiscal space.

Housing and Infrastructure Development Permanent Secretary Charles Mushota says funds to finance the project are from the Export-Import Bank of China.

Mr. Mushota says phases one and two of the project have since been implemented and that all constructions works are now entering phase three.

In an interview with QTV News Mr. Mushota says construction works in phase three of the project have to this effect begun.

Mr. Mushota states that phase three of this project will include Lumumba Road which will be widened with a proper drainage system.

He says the idea is to also improve safety and travel comfort on the road.
