UPND president urges party members to support Charmaine’s candidature

UPND President Hakainde Hichilema has urged party members to support the candidature of Charmaine Musonda as the party’s candidate in the forthcoming Chilanga parliamentary by-election.

Mr Hichilema says Ms Musonda proved popular in the primary elections and deserved the adoption.

He says though some individual leaders at various levels may have their own views, in a democratic process, it is always important to listen and respect the views of everyone, especially the grassroots who form the backbone of the party.

Mr. Hichilema says with the UPND being the current party of choice, it is to be expected that competition is high among the many citizens who want to serve Zambians at various levels under its banner.

He has since called on all UPND supporters and sympathizers across the country to rally behind Ms Musonda’s candidature.

And Mr. Hichilema has thanked UPND Lusaka Province Chairperson Obvious Mwaliteta for showing true leadership in the period leading up to the adoption process for the Chilanga parliamentary by-election.

Nine candidates have successfully filed their nominations for the by-election slated for June 6.
