TIZ speaks for ‘The Media’

Transparency International Zambia (TIZ) Executive Director Wesley Chibamba says government should not enact laws that stifle media freedoms such as the cyber laws targeting the use of social media.

And Mr. Chibamba has called for the enactment of the Access to Information bill which the Zambian people have been asking for in the last 15 years, as the media commemorate this year’s World Press Freedom Day which falls today,3^RD MAY,2018.

He says citizens need the ATI to be enacted into law to enable them monitor and hold accountable their leaders and civil servants.

Mr. Chibamba has also appealed to those in authority especially the political players to allow the media to operate freely and objectively saying a free media is key for any country to achieve meaningful development.
