Mapani wants a strong judicial system

Human Rights Lawyer Moono Mapani says Zambia’s judicial system needs serious attention in order to promote rights and freedoms of individuals.

Mr. Mapani notes that the law is not followed more especially by those charged with the responsibility of protecting the interests of the people.

He says he is at pain to see individuals being held in police custody and not taken to court in line with the provisions of the law.

Mr. Mapani says this is a clear abuse of human rights considering that even detainees are entitled to appear before the courts of law within 48 hours in line with the laws of the land.
