Advocacy against Child Abuse and Gender Based Violence Executive Director Bellion Chola believes the move by the Teaching Service Commission to distribute breathalysers in schools as a measure to curb drunkenness among teachers will bring sanity in the teaching fraternity.

Mr. Chola says his organization has noted with concern reports that some teachers report for work drunk.

He says such teachers cannot impart good morals in pupils.

He notes that teachers play a pivotal role in imparting knowledge in pupils and that doing so under the influence of alcohol cannot bring out good results.

Mr. Chola says this is the more reason why there are reports of child abuse cases in some schools because the teachers are not reasoning well because they are under the influence of alcohol.
