MMD urges govt to act on looming hunger

The opposition MMD, Felix Mutati led faction, says the needs of the people cannot wait their party to get in office hence the association with PF is meant to contribute to the governance of the country both from inside and outside.

And the former ruling party has called on the government to be proactive in dealing with the roaming hunger situation in a number of provinces in the country.

MMD National Secretary Raphael Nakacinda says the association with the ruling party should not be taken as a way of neglecting their duties as an opposition but that it as a positive contribution to the running of the country’s affairs.

Mr. Nakachinda has explained that the association is in the interest of the nation and not individuals.

He says the results are there to see that the relationship between the two political parties was working and that people should differentiate between a political party and government as the two are separate entities.

And on the drought in certain parts of the country, Mr. Nakachinda says government should not wait for the situation to become a crisis before moving in as was the case in the cholera situation.
