ZICA worried with govt’s poor resource management

zicaZambia Institute of Chartered Accountants (ZICA) President Jason Kazilimani has described as worrying the manner in which government is managing public resources.

Mr Kazilimani has since advised government to cautious with how it manages public resources.

He says the institute has observed the continued deterioration in the management of meager public funds by those in authorities.

Speaking during a media briefing, Mr Kazilimani cited the serious allegations of corruption and lack of prudence in public procurement by those entrusted to manage public funds.

He says ZICA has noted with sadness the financial irregularities being reported in the public sector.

He says the poor management of public funds is a potential national disaster that must be treated with concerted efforts.

Mr Kazilimani states that the latest Auditor General’s report is not different from previous reports which have raised several deficiencies in public financial management.
