The Drug Enforcement Commission (DEC) in Lusaka has arrested a 42 year-old Nigerian Prophet for trafficking in Ephedrine.

Isaac Amata, 42, a Prophet of Delta Ibu State in Nigeria, has been arrested for trafficking in 26.29kg of Ephedrine.

DEC Public Relations Officer Theresa Katongo says the suspect was apprehended at the Kenneth Kaunda International Airport upon arrival from Nigeria aboard South African Airways flight.

Meanwhile, the Commission through the Canine Unit in Nakonde, Muchinga Province has arrested four people for trafficking in over 200kg of Miraa.

But one of his supporters Dr Edgar Ngoma who refused to be put on camera told Q-news that the bag in question containing the drugs does not belong to Prophet Amata, saying his bag with his belongings arrived this morning aboard a South African airlines.

Dr Ngoma explained that the mix up in the bags happened yesterday when Prophet Amata upon finalizing his visa payments and formalities and in the process of claiming his luggage was told that only one of his two bags was found.

He says the prophet then reported the missing bag to the airport authorities and left, but that as he was about to leave the car park, he was called back to give a statement on a blue bag that was found with his name tag and contained drugs.

Dr Ngoma says it is at this moment that DEC officers asked the prophet to accompany them to their offices where he was later detained.

He states that his real bag however arrived this morning aboard a South African airline.

And prophet Amata in the company of DEC officers this afternoon was taken to the airport to identify and pick his bag.

The prophet however, left with the DEC officers and remains detained at Kabwata police station as investigations in the matter continue.
