Governance Activist David Kapoma has proposed that government introduces standard charges for the retails in the Central Business District as this will make it easier for the Zambia Revenue Authority (ZRA) to collect the right withholding taxes.

This is contained in a letter he has written to Minister of Local Government Vincent Mwale to consider intervening and engage landlords in Kamwala who are already exerting pressure on tenants to pay January rentals even when the market has remained closed for over two weeks now.

Mr. Kapoma says there is need for the Minister of Local Government to instruct all landlords in both Kamwala and CBD to waiver the rentals for the month of January as it is evident that no business has taken place in this month.

He argues that traders are already spending money since landlords have refused the responsibility to paint the shops.

In his letter, Mr. Kapoma is furthermore proposing that government must ensure that all shops have running water or equivalent for safe drinking water in every shop.
