The Foundation for Democratic Process (FODEP) says the current political polarization is a threat to Zambia’s democratic culture.

FODEP Executive Director Mweenge Chimfwembe says this has also contributed to political tension in the country.

Mr. Chimfwembe has since noted the need to deal with political rivalry to avoid more political tension which says could destroy the country’s democracy.

He has also urged government to address some of the laws that tend to hinder political competition.

Mr. Chimfwembe has cited the Public Order Act which he says has maintained its character from the colonial times.

Mr. Chimfwembe says in order for the country’s democracy not be to frustrated by the ambiguity in such laws, there is need to revisit them.
