Indian company interested in Zambia’s Manganese, Coal

Zambia’s High Commissioner to India Judith Kapijimpanga says an Indian firm, Pure Trust Trading, is interested in buying 5 hundred to 2 thousand metric tons of manganese and coal from Zambia.

Mrs. Kapijimpanga says the Zambian Mission in New Delhi has since communicated to the Ministries of Foreign Affairs, Commerce and Trade and Mines as well as Zambia Development Agency for further facilitation.

She says the company has informed her that it plans to open up its own mine if things are promising in Zambia.

The High Commissioner says Zambia encourages trade with other countries such as India as it results in foreign exchange earnings and job creation.

Mrs. KAPIJIMPANGA says many parts of the Country especially Luapula have a lot of mineral resources such as manganese while Southern Province numerous coal deposits.

She says the country would also love to see investments that would culminate into value addition within the mining areas to create jobs and skills transfer.
