Power Dynamos’ two-match unbeaten run in the big Kitwe derby will be put to the test this Saturday when they host Nkana at Arthur Davies Stadium in Kitwe.

Power and Nkana are third and second on 46 and 50 points, respectively on the table heading into this Faz Super League Week 25 game.

The two sides drew 1-1 in the first leg meeting on May 14, that saw Nkana come from one down at halftime to equalise through Jacob Ngulube, in the 61st minute after Kennedy Mudenda had put Power ahead in the 40th minute.

Power also head into the match seeking their second straight home victory against Nkana, whom they beat 2-1 on August 29, 2015 to record their first derby triumph since 2012.

On paper, Nkana are looking red-hot to end their three-match winless spell in the derby.

The form of top scorer Walter Bwalya on 15 goals, who has scored three goals in Nlana’s last two games will surely test Power’s character.

In addition, the return of striker Ronald Kampamba to Nkana on a season-long loan from Egyptian club Wadi Degla, has added some depth and quality to the visitors’ front-line.

Kampamba has so far scored two goals in as many matches coming into the derby.

The onus is on Power this weekend, to also show that they are a top-three side after two contrasting results, against fellow top five sides’ recently following a 4-0 away loss at champions Zesco United on August 18 after a 2-1 home win over leaders Zanaco on August 8.

Meanwhile, Power midfielder Benson Sakala returns after a week out with injury but forward Larry Bwalya is still out of his second successive match.

The spotlight up front will be on Patson Daka, who had a dry day in last weekend’s 2-1 away win over Forest Rangers, after earlier scoring four goals in three games as Power try to redefine themselves following inspirational striker Fwayo Tembo’s departure for Israel in early August.
