Dr. Chishimba was among the four political party leaders that initially did not sign the peace accord last Friday after a meeting organized by the ECZ.

Briefing journalists at the Electoral Commission of Zambia (ECZ) offices in Lusaka this afternoon shortly after signing the pledge, Dr. Chishimba says his party remains committed to campaigning peacefully ahead of the polls.

Dr. Chishimba explains that he initially did not sign the pledge because the violence is purely perpetrated by the ruling PF and opposition UPND and that these are the two parties who should be in the forefront denouncing political violence.

He says he has signed the pledge because he wants to be among the political party leaders who are fighting political violence.
