Over 15,000 farmers to converge for Agritech expo Zambia

Agritech-ExpoMore than 15,000 small scale and commercial farmers will converge in Chisamba for the 2016 Agri-tech expo Zambia from the 14th to 16th April.

And more than 145 local and international farming technology and service providers will during the same expo showcase their products in what organizers are saying is the largest of such an event in the Southern African region.

Speaking during a breakfast meeting in Lusaka today, Zambia National Farmers Union (ZNFU) Executive Director Ndambo Ndambo says the expo will provide a platform for all players in the agriculture sector to come together and discuss the challenges they are facing and come up with solutions to address them.

Mr. Ndambo adds that information on latest technology, farm mechanization; seed varieties and irrigation solutions will also be available at the event.

He says knowledge sharing and networking at the event will help to propel the agriculture industry to greater heights and contribute to the social and economic development of the country.

And ZANACO Chief Executive Officer Bruce Dick says the bank is happy to be associated with the expo as it is a solution to the many challenges the country is facing among them the high levels of poverty.
