The opposition United Party for National Development (UPND) has called on government to find a lasting solution to issues affecting the mining sector and not threaten mining investors.

UPND Chairman for Rural Reconstruction and Development Moono Mapani says it is painful that the people entrusted with power have continued to abuse that opportunity and do wrong things.

Mr. Mapani says Chief Government Spokesperson likes threatening investors forgetting that most people are surviving because of such investors.

He says what the government should be doing is to engage the investors in a mature manner and not threaten them saying they risk diluting the relationship that exists between Zambia and the international community.

Mr. Mapani states that despite many attempts to advise him against threatening investors, he has continued doing so at the expense of the growth of the nation.

He says not long ago, he threatened to revoke the operating license for Radio Phoenix forgetting that the radio station has provided jobs for local people.

Mr. Mapani has since advised Mr. Kambwili to be moderate with his language saying he represents government and the people of Zambia.
