NCC rules out further reduction in registration fees

The National Council for Construction (NCC) has ruled out the review of contractor registration fees on account of economic challenges facing the country.

NCC Executive Director Charles Mushota says the registration fees are already low to warrant a further reduction.
Mr. Mushota has told Qfm News in an interview the NCC is however aware economic challenges such as the unstable exchange rate are impacting negatively on the construction sector.

He says this is because most of the building materials being used in the sector are imported from outside the country.

Mr. Mushota says Zambians should therefore take advantage of such a situation by setting up industries for manufacturing of building materials.

He says this will not only address effects of an unstable exchange, but will also reduce the cost of procuring building materials for the sector.

Mr. Mushota says the NCC is thus encouraging entrepreneurs in the country to make use of the funds government is providing for innovation through the Citizen Economic Empowerment Commission (CEEC).
